Generational note
Would the grandparents answer differently?For her grandparents red simply meant marriage. In their era pink was an extravagant, showy color; she doubts she would find pink furniture or pink clothes in her grandmother's photo albums.

Custom versus convictionThe one believer of the wave: jade green and the colors of natural crystal read as lucky to her, and black-colored things (black cats, crows) carry ill omen partly through their color.
